When the letters in the Letter Factory get loose, Professor Quigley needs your help to pull them all together! Play 26 fun letter games and learn essential preschool and kindergarten skills such as letter names and letter sounds and learn to write the entire alphabet for your letter book. Then plug into the TV to help Quigley find and identify uppercase and lowercase letters for the book! Works with Leapster L-MAX Learning Game System (item number LFC20256), each sold separately.

Our Review:
Letters on the Loose is intended for use with a Leapster L-Max game player, but will work on an original Leapster game player too. When used with the L-Max game player one of the games can be played right on your TV, while the other included games can be played on either game player.

The primary game asks the user to interact with a letter with the pen or arrow keys, and while the letter character performs some animated activity it makes the letter's sound, reinforcing phonics awareness. Each activity is different and very entertaining. After the activity is completed, the user is asked to trace dotted lines for both the uppercase and lowercase versions of the letter.

All the letters that are completed are stored in the user's personal alphabet book which can be viewed later on the game player or on the TV with the Leapster L-Max. You can save two different letter books with two different user names which is really helpful if you have two kids sharing one game player.

This cartridge has become a real favorite of our 4 year old son. We love that he asks to play it because it is such a valuable educational tool.

I didn't realize what great practice this has actually been for him until he started writing on paper with no dotted lines and his letters look great! He even likes the songs that it comes with and I find him singing them to himself, though he adds his own touches, like "..every letter makes a sound. B says 'bum'", which he finds endlessly funny.
